Join Emma Spencer Goodier for a winter yoga adventure on Senja island in Norway. Located in the Arctic Circle this remote destination offers a deep experience in wild nature with its dramatic mountains, crystal clear waters and beautiful fjords. You’re invited to spend five days practicing yoga, ski touring in the mountains or husky sledding in the valleys. In the evenings, soak in the hot tub and enjoy your toasty apartment or head out to find experience the Northern Lights. The untouched wilderness and minimal light pollution here makes it the perfect place for star gazing and aurora viewing.
Our yoga retreat destination is the north west coast Senja island, an incredibly beautiful part of Norway where steep, majestic mountains dive straight into the sea and arctic beaches line a small archipelago of uninhabited islands.
You stay in stylish apartments set around the harbour of a renovated fishing village with uninterrupted views out to the surrounding islets and snowy mountains. For the brave, there is an option to start your day with a cold water tip in the fjord before you immerse yourself in a dynamic yoga practice with with Emma.
Once you have enjoyed a delicious Norwegian breakfast, your days will be filled with wintery fun. With Spring daylight for 12 hours a day there is plenty of time for adventures and for those with previous experience, a five hour ski touring experience is included in your retreat. Senja is a the fairytale island and the mountains around us stretch directly from the sea and up to 600-1000m! If skiing is not for you, a husky sledding experience is included in your retreat, where you’ll explore the pristine Arctic wilderness and mush your own team of powerful Siberian huskies.
You have the option to book extra ski touring or husky sledding, along with snow shoeing under the aurora, body rafting experience, fjord boat safari and a hot tub/sauna session. Or just relax in your cosy apartment and enjoy the views and read a book.
Emma will lead a second yoga session at the end of the day to help you recover and get a to place of deep rest after an active day, and you’ll be sure to sleep soundly in your comfy bed.
Our mornings will begin in silence and move towards a dynamic practice, giving the afternoon sessions space for a more workshop feel as we slide towards stillness at the end of our day.
Yoga sessions will be 90 minutes long in the mornings and afternoons.
I am a keeper of words and a lover of stories, philosophy and poetry. My yoga offers clarity, suggests precision, offers strength whilst suggesting softness.
Mornings will be dynamic and flowing and evenings restorative. I am senior yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance, I am a teacher of teachers and my quest is that of the pure spirit, my guides are integrity and joy. A strong skier who loves the mountains, this is a dream coming true to offer the clarity of yoga in the serenity of the Norwegian mountains.
We have 16 places available on this retreat. Our retreat location is in beautifully designed apartments set around a harbour, surrounded by mountains.You’ll stay in two or three bedroom suites.
All the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and you’ll share living room with floor-to-ceiling-windows and amazing views.
Our accommodation is cosy and warm and snuggling up on the sofa is highly recommended. You may even get to enjoy the Northern Lights from the comfort of your living room.
Our local chef will be creating Norwegian style meals with quality local ingredients. There will be a buffet breakfast, light lunch and three course dinner.
The menu will be vegetarian with fish options available for those who’d like it. Vegan meals are possible and our chef can accommodate most special dietary needs but please do let us know in advance, so that we can check with the chef and confirm your request.
We prefer our retreats to be alcohol free.

Our retreat takes place on Senja island, which you can reach from Tromsø.
You can fly to Tromsø from UK via Oslo with SAS and Norwegian or via Frankfurt with Lufthansa. Wizzair and Norwegian also offer direct flights to Tromsø from the UK on some days.
From Tromsø you need to transfer to the ferry port (less than 15 minutes by taxi or bus) you need to take the Express Ferry departing to Finnsnes. Get ready for a beautiful 1 hour boat journey through the fjords!
